We are thrilled to announce our new partnership with Opinel knives!
The French company started in 1890 with a folding knife and has gone from that little portable blade to a full line of fantastic knives and tools. We love that they are family owned and operated and still manufactured in their factory in France.
Here are a few of our favorites:
No. 08 Stainless Folding Knife
This is the knife that started it all. We sharpen a lot of these and we love them! They are solid, yet light, and perfect for a million different tasks. I keep one in our camping box and one in the car.
How would we describe this set for young fingers? One word...BRILLIANT. This is such an amazing way to help kids get involved in the kitchen. The guard protects their non-cutting hand and the loop in the handle provides stability.
And please remember that even when it comes to young cooks, a sharp knife is still a safer knife.
I'll admit, when we first got this knife I didn't really know what to expect because I had only used Opinel folding knives. It immediately became the favorite chef's knife in the house. By far. It's a classic workhorse with a full tang and feels SO good in the hand. It's also the knife used in the highly regarded French cooking schools of: Alain Ducasse - Institut Paul Bocuse.
If you're in the market for any new knives and have never tried Opinel, we highly suggest that you do. They have a reasonable price point and are great quality.
And of course, when they need sharpening, you know what to do...
Until next time,
Knifey Wifey
